Hot Wheels Bugatti Veyron – 2003 First Editions
Well, seeing that the Hot Wheels Bugatti Veyron is a popular item right now, I couldn’t pass this one up for a dollar.
I don’t know the full story behind why the ‘value’ of the various Hot Wheels Bugatti Veyron castings has jumped in the past few months but rumor has it that Hot Wheels has lost the license. What does that mean going forward? I don’t think that many in the collector world know that answer.
A little casting history
Mark Jones designed the Hot Wheels Bugatti Veyron casting. The Veyrons’ debut as a Hot Wheels casting was in 2003 as part of the First Editions series. It saw a handful of releases until it’s final in the 2010 Speed Machines series. The Veyron never made an appearance dressed as a Treasure Hunt.
The 2003 Hot Wheels Bugatti Veyron First Edition release is painted black and red. It features a beige interior with clear windows and 10SP (10 spoke) wheels. The base is black plastic. Every release of the casting appears to have been manufactured in Malaysia. The only tampo work on this release are the headlights. The one I show below appears to have had some dust on it in the factory when it was painted.
