Hot Wheels Herbie Love Bug – Volkswagen Beetle (2014)
Well, I did it. I broke my streak of NEVER attending a Kday.
A few of the local club guys were there. Before the day started, we were all chatting on what we hoped to find. I mentioned that I mainly got out of bed this morning to bring my kids to the even and that I had hopes of finding the Hot Wheels Herbie Love Bug. My oldest son was picked rather early to open a case. Both of my sons were picked to get one of the Volkswagen Bus build sheets. Me, I was left holding my ticket. LOL. One of the club guys walked away with the only Sandblaster $uper Treasure Hunt. As the final numbers were being called for the build sheets, there was a young boy standing behind the manager hoping that his number would get called. It never did.
I have been giving my card backs to a few of the guys in the club – I don’t do the mail ins. Right before we were ready to head to the register, he called me over. He handed me the only Hot Wheels Herbie Love Bug that was found at the event. Needless to say I was thrilled. I asked what he wanted in return – we had found the Night Burner Treasure hunt. He didn’t want a thing. Many thanks my friend. I won’t name names here but you know who you are…
Simple acts like this go to show that there are still good people in the world. Remember that little boy that was hoping for a build sheet? My oldest son took his and gave it to him. The expression on his face was priceless. This is what it’s all about people. From all the nasty things I have heard about Kdays, I think my view on the event has changed.
