The Hot Wheels Purple Passion tends to be a popular casting among collections. In my collection, I have a just a few. The one pictured below happens to be part of my sons collection. He lent it to me for the sake of taking pictures. Thank you!
The Purple Passion was designed by Larry Wood and is based on a custom ’49 Mercury. Originally, this casting was painted purple and released in 1990 as part of the basic line. The casting has been released in one form or another every year since 1990 except for 2012. Mainlines, premium lines, RLC exclusives – this casting has been just about everywhere. Unlike many other castings, the Purple Passion was not only released once but twice as a Treasure Hunt. Once being in 1995 along with the ’31 Doozie and the other being in 2005.
